|“The Persecution of Christians in the 21st Century” will be held in the Main Chamber of the House of Commons this afternoon This is remarkable, coming only three weeks after the debate on "The Persecution of Christians in the Middle East". Thanks are due to the DUP MPs in the Commons who have offered three hours of their allocated time on this topic.
Please pray that the Foreign Office and Department of International Development will actually take action and put real resources behind supporting and defending those who suffer as a result of their Christian faith.
We need more than words.
Someone somewhere dies about every 11 minutes for the Christian faith –the most persecuted religion on earth. This is a fundamental breach of human rights and must be recognised as such and not ignored for any longer, whether as a result of the secularisation of successive government’s approaches, political correctness, or because tackling this has been put in the “too hard to do box”. It needs to be taken out.
Our country has an opportunity now to give international leadership on this issue but we need more than words – we need Government action.
