|I have just returned from another visit to Faisalabad. It was a very tough trip - an emotional roller-coaster! However, one of the many joys was to be able to negotiate the freedom of four more families from the slavery of brick making in the kilns.
These poor unfortunate families are in, what the PC brigade call bonded labour, but dung by any other name still stinks! Most have been born into slavery due to the debt of earlier generations. Christians in this 'Islamic Republic' are at the bottom of the rung. They have been compared by some to the 'untouchables' in Indian society.
They are kept so poor that it is impossible for them to earn enough to repay the debt and so the generational cycle continues. What a joy to be able to repay this debt unconditionally.
It is a wonderful modern parable that illustrates how Jesus has unconditionally repaid the debt of our sin so that we too may live a life free from the bondage of slavery to sin.
>For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus Romans 3:23-24
Hallelujah! What a saviour!
