It was announced today that a 'Global Malala Day' is to be held in honour of Malala Yousafzai, the schoolgirl shot by the Taliban because she believed in education for girls and not just boys. She has become a focal point in the movement to bring equal education to all.
Former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, now a United Nations envoy for education, said the event would take place on Malala's 16th birthday on 12 July. He has appointed Malala's father Ziauddin as a special advisor.
In contrast, and I do not have a lot of details at this stage, I am advised that in Lahore more than 100 Christian homes have been burnt down by radical Muslims. Christians in the Badami Bagh area have been accused of insulting Mohammed.
